Lunar Court, by Aileen Erin
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think this one was my favorite yet!!! How do they just keep getting better???
Cosette is a fey princess–a flaming-sword wielding, kick butt and take names later kind of fey princess who wants nothing to do with the fey Lunar Court but is bound to it by blood. Chris is a werewolf with a battered childhood. Controlled by the moon, he can’t be bound to the Lunar Court without becoming a slave.
They can’t be together, but they can’t deny their feelings. So when an Archon tells Chris there might be a way to break his lunar tie, Chris enters the fey Court of Gales, an underground world of double-talk and corruption that reminds him far too much of his own troubled past. He would do anything for Cosette. Anything. But that’s easy to say when you don’t know what “anything” might mean…
The City of Brass, by S.A. Chakraborty
This book is magnificent. The sense of being in another world saturates the entire novel, from the subtle details of the apothecary shop (woven seamlessly into the action) to the rich history of the daeva city with its ancient mysteries, politics, and magic.

Jivaja, by Venessa M. Giunta
For as long as she can remember, Mecca has had the power to drain life through the touch of her hand. It’s a family secret—both her “gift” and her mother’s unusual death—because Mecca is not the first. Her power came from her father, who has loved and trained her all her life, trying to help her control what she can do.
But he hasn’t told her everything.
Now, her world has collided with an underground society of life drainers who would do anything to control her, and nothing is safe anymore: not her home, not her father, and definitely not her secrets.
Sugar Spells, by Lola Dodge
Brand new this week!!!
Don’t you just love these covers? The first one sucked me right in, and I love this one even more. But what’s true of the covers is just as true of the books!
Anise is still in Taos, but her previous adventures did not leave her unscathed. Without spoilers (for either this book or book one), she finds herself more deeply immersed in the world of magic, becoming more aware of its darker side—whether she wants to or not. Now she’s struggling to figure out how she fits in, who she’s going to be, and what exactly is happening to her powers.
The Dragon Keeper, by Robin Hobb
She had us at dragons.
They’ve returned to the Rain Wild, but they’re hatching out weak and deformed, unable to fly. The once-magnificent beasts are too dangerous to keep, too important to kill. So a rag-tag team is chosen to take them back to their fabled home upriver.
These human strangers don’t know where they’re going. They don’t even know if they’ll survive. But they have one chance to make a difference—to save dragonkind from a world that has forgotten its past—and they have to try.
Bellamy and the Brute, by Alicia Michaels
A secretive, wealthy family with a suspicious financial past. A football star who disappeared amidst rumors of sudden illness and deformity. A house full of strange noises, cold drafts, and mysterious power outages. And a trail of rose petals that leads up to the third floor, where Bellamy promised she would never, ever go…
We love fairytale retellings, and we especially love them when they’re free.
Of Poseidon, by Anna Banks
Talk about kismet! We just started our new fantasy romcom tag last week, and one of our very first reader recommendations for the tag is already on sale! Remi commented on the fantasy romcom post: “The Syrena Legacy trilogy by Anna Banks. Don’t let the stereotypical, YA romance book covers fool you. It’s one of my go to lol series. Book one is Of Poseidon and if the first 5 pages don’t have you cracking up, you’re either not human, or one of those British Queen’s Guards, the ones in red with the big, furry hats.”
Thanks, Remi! No red, furry hats here! We loved the sample, and we’re happy to snap it up, especially at the sale price of only $2.99 for the ebook. For anyone who has recommendations in the fantasy romantic comedy genre, or in any of the other genres we cover, we’d love to hear it!
The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure, by William Goldman
This post is our gift to you. If you’ve never read this edition of this book, follow your favorite link to the free sample, and read the introduction. Not only will it be one of the funniest introductions you’ve ever read, but by the time you’re done, you won’t be sure anymore whether Florin is a real place or S. Morgenstern was a real person.
It isn’t, and he wasn’t. The publisher blurb says so. And we Googled it, too, because we still weren’t sure. So now we’re sure that it isn’t, and that he wasn’t. Mostly.
We have a winner!

Dragon’s Code, by Gigi McCaffrey
$25 gift card giveaway! Keep reading for details!
If you haven’t read any of Anne McCaffrey’s Pern series, you really need to start at the beginning. But don’t worry, you don’t have to read all 20-something titles before you get to this one! Just six: Dragonflight, Dragonquest, Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, The White Dragon, and Dragondrums. (Links at the end of the post.) There’s a bit of plot overlap between Gigi McCaffrey’s new one and the last couple, but if you’ve read the others, that’s part of the charm.
For those of you who have loved this series since it first came out (I’m not old enough to make that claim, but I’ve loved it since I first discovered it), you’ll feel the same way about this one that I do.
5 stars, for bringing me back home.
