Know what your Monday needs? A free YA fantasy. That’s what.

Know what your Monday needs? A free YA fantasy. That’s what.

Angelbound, by Christina Bauer

“I roll over on my dingy bed, scooch under the drab covers, and watch the gray drizzle outside my window. Mondays are the pits.”

They sure are. But nothing brightens our week like a free read! We searched through a hell of books tonight (pun intended), looking for just the right thing to cheer up your Monday, but the deals weren’t calling to us. Not until we found this one. With a fun premise, a kick-ass heroine, and a smooth, conversational writing style, it’s a great introduction to a series that has plenty more to offer if you like this one.

So go ahead. Treat yourself to that latte. We’ve got your book covered.

Welcome back to Pern! New book in just 5 weeks! (Aka I beg for books and have strange interactions at the post office.)

Welcome back to Pern! New book in just 5 weeks! (Aka I beg for books and have strange interactions at the post office.)

Remember that authorAnne McCaffrey? The one who made me (Erin) decide to become an author? The one I couldn’t talk to without sobbing?

(You might know her better as the Anne McCaffrey who’s in the Science Fiction Hall of Famethe SFFWA Grand Master, winner of both the Hugo and Nebula Awards, winner of the Robert A. Heinlein award for lifetime achievement as a fantasy and science fiction author… Right, that Anne McCaffrey. But I’m sure the bit about what she means to me personally is on a card in the SF Hall of Fame somewhere.)

Okay, so her daughter, Gigi McCaffrey, is releasing a new Pern book in OctoberDragon’s Codeand I’m so excited I can’t stand it. (Imagine a thirty-minute pause here while I tried and failed to find a gif showing how profoundly excited I am. I’m not a gif connoisseur, apparently. I did, however, spell ‘connoisseur’ correctly on the first go, which surprised me and made me feel a little better about the whole gif thing.)

$0.99 sale on Air Awakens! (Or pick up all 5 books bundled for just $9.99!)

Air Awakens, by Elise Kova

We snapped this up the second it went on sale. We’ve been dying to start the series, and $0.99 is the perfect excuse to do it. For one thing, the cover is gorgeous. Is that really a good reason to buy a book? Yes. Yes, it is. (Then again, we can’t think of any bad reasons.)

For another thing, library girl? Love it. Dark and fiery prince? Oh, yeah. Mysterious magic society? Why is this book not in our hands right now??? (Oh, hey, look at that. It is in our hands!)

Being Alpha, by Aileen Erin

I love it when a main character actually grows over the course of a series. Developing as a person, becoming more confident. Without any spoilers (ever!), Tessa has done just that. I loved her in the beginning, and I love her now. I just finished Being Alpha about five minutes ago, and I already can’t wait for the next one!

A Disney retelling for $0.99? Grab it before they change their minds!

A Disney retelling for $0.99? Grab it before they change their minds!

Mistress of All Evil, by Serena Valentino

This whole series has been sitting pretty at the top of Amazon’s fairy tale retelling chart for ages. (Disney, Disney, Disney, Cinder, Disney, Disney…) So, frankly, it’s a little weird to see one of them on sale. Why would they bother? We don’t know, but grab it while you can. Before they change their minds.

“Sherlock Holmes crossed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Huge sale on this award-winning historical fantasy series!

Jackaby, by William Ritter

The Jackaby series has it all. Mystery. Suspense. A healthy dose of the supernatural. “And one seriously ugly hat.” The Chicago Tribune called it “Sherlock Holmes crossed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” At 40% to 67% off, we call it awesome.

Sale on three Alpha Girl books! (Because the pack is stronger together.)

You already know Erin adores these books. (Our Erin, not Aileen Erin, although hopefully her, too.) About three weeks ago, we told you about the sale on the first two. Now, Kindle books three, four, and five are all on deep discount. There’s never been a better time to catch up on the series!

A family curse. An ancestral madness. And the only hope of redemption… lies in Wonderland.

A family curse. An ancestral madness. And the only hope of redemption… lies in Wonderland.

Splintered, by A.G. Howard

This start of the New York Times bestselling YA dark fantasy series based on Alice in Wonderland is only $1.99 today on Amazon. It’s been called twisted, riveting, brilliant, and hypnotic, with “more mad violence than its original.” Call us intrigued. (The sale has bumped it above our own The Wendy for the moment, but we’re hyping it anyway. That’s just how we roll.)

Cat vs Bat! (Batwing, that is.) A purrfect new release from Sara J. Maas and the DC universe.

Catwoman: Soulstealer, by Sarah J. Maas

This one is out TODAY, the latest in the blockbuster DC Icons series. On the one hand… CATWOMAN! On the other… Batwing? As our resident DC fan, Erin would rather see her pitted against the Bat himself, but being of two minds is purrfectly appropriate for this iconic super-villain we love to love.
