Some Assistance Required, by C.L. Ogilvie

Glenda Melner has a mother who (probably) can’t remember her name, a new lawyer boss who happens to be a vampire, and a best friend who’s convinced Glen won’t survive her first week on the job. The firm comes complete with a shapeshifter who can’t shift, a fairy who can’t fly, a hyperborean who can’t be bothered to give a mere human the time of day, and vampire-hating protestors who lob garlic at the lobby. Not to mention the orc at the security desk.

Soon Glenda is embroiled in a hot supernatural mess, and I loved every minute of it. The book is a standalone, but I wish it weren’t because I adored the main character and the entire ensemble cast. I would buy another book about them all in a second!!!

Supernatural murder and an alpaca. A magical romantic comedy… with a body count.

Hoofin’ It, by RJ Blain

$0.99 Kindle Sale ($4.99)

What do FBI agents, vampires, witches, glass eyes, alpacas, and a wicked sense of humor all have in common? You guessed it: Hoofin’ It, by RJ Blain. I read the first chapter and then bought it immediately for only $0.99. I laughed at the spitting alpaca. I laughed at the conversation Shane has with his mother. Heck, I laughed at the dialog with the 911 operator, but there’s probably something wrong with me.

I even laughed at the dedication. Here, look. I screenshotted it for you.

Alpha Girl: one of my favorite “fun read” series!

Books one and two are FREE on Kindle!

I call them “fun reads.” It’s my own category, but I’m sure you have one just like it. The books can come from any genre, but they have to suck me in from the beginning, hold my attention to the end, and be easy to read all the way through. They can be thrilling or adventurous or sexy or funny, but they’re all just plain fun.

Aileen Erin’s Alpha Girl series is all of these at once, and it’s one of my absolute favorites.

Prince in Disguise by Stephanie Kate Strohm

An Adorable Holiday Slump-buster!

Life is real enough for Dylan—especially as the ordinary younger sister of Dusty, former Miss Mississippi and the most perfect, popular girl in Tupelo. But when Dusty wins the hand of the handsome Scottish laird-to-be Ronan on the TRC television network’s crown jewel, Prince in Disguise, Dylan has to face a different kind of reality: reality TV.

As the camera crew whisks them off to Scotland to film the lead-up to the wedding, camera-shy Dylan is front and center as Dusty’s maid of honor. The producers are full of surprises—including old family secrets, long-lost relatives, and a hostile future mother-in-law who thinks Dusty and Dylan’s family isn’t good enough for her only son. At least there’s Jamie, an adorably bookish groomsman who might just be the perfect antidote to all Dylan’s stress . . . if she just can keep TRC from turning her into the next reality show sensation.

I was SO excited to be approved for this Disney-Hyperion title on Net Galley, and it did not disappoint!

If you’re in the mood for a fast, slump-buster read–whether to get you back into reading or to kick-start you into the holiday spirit–this is it! I loved Dylan immediately. She’s the awkward, self-conscious, shy younger sister of a beauty-pageant winner, dragged into a high-profile world she never wanted to be part of. When she ends up meeting a boy she might actually LIKE (for the first time, like, EVER), she’s forced to go through the roller coaster of first love on reality television. UGH, right???
