Chakraborty<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This book is magnificent. The sense of being in another world saturates the entire novel, from the subtle details of the apothecary shop (woven seamlessly into the action) to the rich history of the daeva city with its ancient mysteries, politics, and magic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2FtVViy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><button class=\"button\">Amazon<\/button><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Nahri is one-half practical problem solver and one-half spitfire, and we love her 100%. Her princely counterpart in the daeva city is warm-hearted but tragically naive, adding significant tension and intrigue to a setting that was already mesmerizing. The story jumps back and forth between the two, reminiscent of <i>Strange the Dreamer<\/i>, and by the way if you loved that book, go buy this one right now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Not only is the writing elegant, but the characters are fully developed\u2014even the secondary actors and bit players have their quirks, flaws, and charm\u2014and there were plenty of surprises to keep us guessing. Chakraborty has skyrocketed into our favorite author list in just one read, and we can\u2019t wait to get our hands on the next one in the series.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Bottom line: A rich, luminous read with the spice of ancient magic.<\/span><\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><i>This is one of the few books on our reading list that we did not receive from the publisher. We just found it and picked it up in an actual book store.
