Off Planet, by Aileen Erin

Maité is half alien, living in hiding since she was a small child, when most of her father’s species on Earth was slaughtered. If humanity discovers her, they’ll kill her. So she hides with her mother, poor as dirt, trying not to attract attention. But that isn’t easy in a world where all humans have tech implants that her half-Aunare side can’t tolerate. Literally.

Not to mention the super-fast reflexes and the occasional glowing-skin thing.

When she finally gets the chance to flee–to return to the father who desperately wants her safe on an alien world–things go from bad to worse. Her secret is out, and she’s about to become a pawn in an inter-planetary war. Suddenly, what she represents seems to matter more than who she is. But Maité knows exactly who she is. And she’s about to prove it.

Lunar Court, by Aileen Erin

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think this one was my favorite yet!!! How do they just keep getting better???

Cosette is a fey princess–a flaming-sword wielding, kick butt and take names later kind of fey princess who wants nothing to do with the fey Lunar Court but is bound to it by blood. Chris is a werewolf with a battered childhood. Controlled by the moon, he can’t be bound to the Lunar Court without becoming a slave.

They can’t be together, but they can’t deny their feelings. So when an Archon tells Chris there might be a way to break his lunar tie, Chris enters the fey Court of Gales, an underground world of double-talk and corruption that reminds him far too much of his own troubled past. He would do anything for Cosette. Anything. But that’s easy to say when you don’t know what “anything” might mean…

Love à la Mode, by Stephanie Kate Strohm

I read Stephanie Kate Strohm’s Prince in Disguise during the 2017 holiday season and absolutely devoured it. With Love à la Mode, she’s now on my (very short) must-read author list.

Henry is in high school, but he’s been chosen out of thousands of applicants to attend one of the most elite cooking programs in the world—a year in Paris! It’s his wildest dream come true, but his mother is not on board. From an ocean away, she’s going to make the best year of his life into a living hell. But he has to survive it. He has to. Not just for his dreams, but for Rosie.

Rosie’s in the same program, but she’s more of a baker than a cook. She’s failing in class, proving to be terrible at the one thing she loves most in the world, and they’ve made it very clear that not everyone gets to stay the full year. She’s already lost more than any kid should have to, and she’s struggling to hold on to the first thing she’s cared about in a very long time. The first two things—her year in Paris, and Henry.

The definitive fantasy romcom! (And a tip to make you laugh today.)

The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure, by William Goldman

This post is our gift to you. If you’ve never read this edition of this book, follow your favorite link to the free sample, and read the introduction. Not only will it be one of the funniest introductions you’ve ever read, but by the time you’re done, you won’t be sure anymore whether Florin is a real place or S. Morgenstern was a real person.

It isn’t, and he wasn’t. The publisher blurb says so. And we Googled it, too, because we still weren’t sure. So now we’re sure that it isn’t, and that he wasn’t. Mostly.

You’ll see.

In any event, no collection of fantasy romcom titles would be complete without it. (Our thanks to @ivythesorceress for the reminder, with more reader favorites coming soon!)

Bound, by Kirsten Weiss

You get a book… and you get a book…

When it comes to books, it doesn’t get better than free! But we don’t recommend just any free book. (Most of the time, you get what you pay for.) So we look for titles that actually excite us. Solid writing. Good reviews. An interesting premise. And we try to cross the sci-fi/fantasy spectrum. Dystopian science one day, cozy mysteries the next. This one’s a contemporary witchy mystery with a bit of romance, in the vein of Practical Magic. We downloaded ours as soon as we found it. And then we shared it with you!
